What this site knows about you

Syllabuy collects as close to nothing as a website can while still being a website. There is no newsletter, no account, no comment section and no sign-up form anywhere on this site — not as a privacy feature so much as an honest one: no email service is connected, so a form here could only ever lie to you about what happens next.

What this site stores about you

Nothing you typed, because there is nowhere to type. No account, no profile, no saved preferences, no advertising identifier set by this site.

The pages are plain static files. They set no cookies of their own, and nothing on them tracks you from page to page or from one visit to the next.

What happens automatically

The server that delivers these pages keeps ordinary web-server logs — the requested address, the time, an IP address, the browser's user-agent string. That is the minimum a web server records in order to serve a page and to notice when it is being attacked. Those logs are used for nothing else, are not combined with anything, and are not sold or handed to advertisers.

Fonts and files

The typefaces used here are served from this site's own domain rather than from a font network, so loading a page does not announce your visit to a third party in order to fetch lettering.

Illustrations and page files are likewise served from this domain.

When you follow a link out

Links to Coursera, Udemy, edX, LinkedIn Learning, Alison and FutureLearn leave this site. Some of them are partner links, marked where they sit, which pass through a redirect on this domain so that the destination is recorded for commission purposes.

Once you arrive at the other end, you are on that company's site under that company's privacy policy, and what they collect is between you and them. This desk does not receive your name, your email address or your order details from any of them — only the aggregate fact that a purchase was attributed to this site.

Children

This site is written for adults choosing what to pay for. It is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone knowingly.

Changes, and how to ask

If this site ever adds something that collects data — an email list, say — this page changes first and says so plainly, before the feature exists rather than after.
